KYW Flashback: Philadelphia Bans 'Vaping' In Public
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Banishing tobacco from public places has been a work in progress. It's like trying to herd cats. There's always a stray place or product that stayed out of reach.
A year ago, the city of Philadelphia finally got around to those electronic cigarettes that had been silently avoiding the net.
KYW's Jim Melwert reported that Mayor Nutter had signed the ban on what is being called "vaping" in public places, including restaurants, bars and offices.
The latest addition to the creation of a smoke-free environment follows a ban on smoking in public parks.
There are still exceptions, but eight years after the first city smoke bans took effect, they too are slowly being whittled away.
