KYW Flashback: First Of Several Sex Assault Allegations Against Bill Cosby
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - An American idol was about to fall off his pedestal.
It was ten years ago and KYW's suburban bureau was reporting that Philadelphia's favorite performer -- Temple booster and all-around good guy -- was having his reputation smudged.
Montgomery County detectives were looking into allegations of sexual assault against TV star Bill Cosby.
But District Attorney Bruce Castor was having a problem. Andrea Constand, a Temple staffer -- the first woman to accuse Cosby in what would become a full-blown scandal involving many women -- had waited a year before coming forward. Any evidence was gone.
Now, with more than a dozen accusers, the story is far from over.
