King of Prussia Retail Corridor Undergoing Development Surge

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (CBS) -- Drivers who regularly use Route 202 through King of Prussia may have noticed a lot of construction going on. A number of companies are making a significant investment along the heavily traveled road.
There are eight construction projects currently going on along DeKalb Pike -- everything from food to retail, with new Burger King and Chili's restaurants, and even a new shopping center anchored by Target and Starbucks.
There are also façade improvements coming to an office complex.
King of Prussia District executive director Eric Goldstein says developers are attracted to Upper Merion because of its accessibility.
"We have an incredible amount of retail square footage, commercial office square footage, (and) nearly fifty percent of all the hotels in Montgomery County," he tells KYW Newsradio, "so it's a place that has a lot of action."
Completion dates on the projects range from later this year to the spring and summer of next year.
Meanwhile, construction is expected to begin next year on a 140,000-square-foot addition to the King of Prussia Mall.
