Kimmel Center Teams Up With Philly Film Office To Offer Movies
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is teaming up with the Greater Philadelphia Film Office to begin showing movies at their venue.
The Kimmel Center plans to host film-related events, screenings, and local premieres, in hopes of bringing new activity and new audiences to their venue.
"We are confident that through this partnership we will establish the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts as a premier venue for movie screenings in Philadelphia," said Anne Ewers, president and CEO of the Kimmel Center in a statement.
Films will be shown in the Perelman Theater, using its newly installed, state-of-the-art digital equipment. The theater can host about 490 viewers, becoming the largest screening venue in Center City by about 30 seats.
"Today's movie-going audience hungers for more than an action film in a darkened multiplex," said Sharon Pinkenson, Greater Philadelphia Film Office Executive Director, in a statement. "So we cannot wait to get started on this new venture of attracting the best that film has to offer in the Perelman Theater to our beloved Philadelphia."
