Kids Beat The Heat By Going Out Of This World At Franklin Institute
CENTER CITY (CBS) -- Hundreds of families spent the day at Philadelphia's Franklin Institute, taking part in science experiments and hearing from a NASA Astronaut.
Kids couldn't take their eyes off of NASA Astronaut Christina Koch, as she spoke about reaching for the stars.
"I like to inspire kids to hopefully follow their dreams, if those are in science, that's awesome," Koch said. "I want them to see a face of someone who is doing science and was lucky enough to live out the dream that I have had my whole life."
It was part of the 30-year celebration for Glaxo-Smith-Kline's Science in the Summer, a program which engages and teaches kids about science through interactive learning. David Esposito brought his kids to see Koch.
"I think it was good that they had a woman astronaut, since I have daughters," Esposito said. "It lets them see that they can be scientists too."
7-year-old Casey liked the experiments
"Electricity... it sparked up," she said.
