Kicking The Habit Easily? You Might Want To See Your Doctor
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's a good idea to kick the cigarette habit. However, if it was almost too easy, a local researcher says you may have lung cancer.
Dr. Barbara Campling, a lung cancer specialist at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, interviewed lung cancer patients at the local VA hospital and found a link between their disease and how much effort was needed to kick the habit.
"Most of them had tried to quit on many occasions and had been unable to do so, so we thought it was remarkable that so many of these patients quit without even really trying," Dr. Campling said.
She speculates that a secretion from the tumor may be the reason it was so easy to stop smoking and she suggests anyone who found it a breeze to quit smoking to see a doctor for an exam and testing.
