Kenny Chesney Plays Hit-Filled Free Show To Thousands On Jersey Shore
WILDWOOD, NJ (CBS) -- Currently celebrating the release of his brand-new album, Welcome to the Fishbowl, Kenny Chesney played a free concert last night (Wednesday, June 20) to thousands of fans on the New Jersey shore. The show was also webcast live to fans who couldn't make it.
The concert took place right on the beach in the town of Wildwood. The crowd was a big one--"roughly 25,000 to 30,000 people" according to a CBS Philadelphia report. It was "something this beach town has not seen in years," said CBS reporter Todd Quinones.
The show was also webcast live online as part of the American Express Unstaged series and directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Jonathan Demme.
The concert was "years in the making," according to CBS, and a "showcase" for the town, which is known for its wide beaches (wide enough to accomodate a large stage and tens of thousands of fans).
The beach at Wildwood is "one of the most unique settings" Chesney's played, he said from the stage at one point.

The concert lasted more than two hours and included songs from throughout Chesney's career.
In addition to conducting interviews to promote the release of Welcome to the Fishbowl, Chesney is currently on the Brothers of the Sun tour with Tim McGraw.
