Kayak Rentals Paddle Into The Delaware River
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, kayak rentals have launched along the Delaware River.
With the new docks completed just Friday at the Penn's Landing Marina next to the Seaport Museum, you can now rent kayak's there and paddle next to some of the large vessels docked there, like the oldest steel warship afloat today, the Olympia.
Jason Barsalow gave it a go. "It's a lot of fun, something to do. You get to see the city from a different angle," Barsalow says.
Jason Mifflin, who runs the kayak operation, says, "With kayaks you can have kids 12 and older paddle the singles themselves, then 8-12 year-olds can be in tandem with an adult."
All must wear a personal flotation device. It costs $8 per person for half an hour. Hours on Fridays are 4-8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays 12-8pm.
Paddle boats are expected soon and possibly swan boats.
