Charges Filed Against Man Shot By Police During Confrontation Inside King Of Prussia Mall Parking Garage
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (CBS) -- Charges have been filed against the Delaware man who was shot by police in a parking garage at the King of Prussia Mall on Sunday.
Kalin Jackson, 23, of New Castle, Delaware, is charged with three counts of robbery and related offenses in Montgomery County. Police in Delaware say he is also wanted for a series of crimes there, including a gun-point carjacking of an 87-year-old man.
According to charging documents, at 4 p.m. on Saturday as a woman got into her car in a garage near Nordstrom, Jackson climbed in the back, put a gun to her head, reached over the seat and grabbed her purse. He then sped off in a red Kia SUV.
The woman gave police the tag, and they say it matched the stolen vehicle from Delaware.
Twenty-four hours later, that car was traced to the same garage.
As police approached him, they say he rammed two police cars, and then tried to run down officers on foot. They opened fire.
Jackson remains hospitalized and sources close to the investigation say he may not survive his injuries.
As standard procedure, the shooting is under investigation by the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office and the involved officers are on desk duty.
