Jurors In Gosnell Trial Focus On Co-Defendant During Deliberations
By Tony Hanson
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The jury in the trial of abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell is set to begin its third day of deliberations.
Questions and requests for evidence suggest jurors continue to focus on a co-defendant. Eileen O'Neill, who saw patients and did general medical examinations at Gosnell's medical facility even though she did not have a valid medical license. She is charged with theft by deception and related offenses.
Dr. Gosnell is charged with five counts of murder related to his abortion practice, including four counts of first degree murder for babies who were allegedly killed after they were born alive.
The defense has argued the fetuses were not alive so there could be no murder.
Gosnell and O'Neill have both pleaded NOT guilty.
