Judging Day At Science Fair For Philadelphia Middle And High Schoolers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - It's judging day for Philadelphia's 32nd annual citywide Carver Science Fair, named in honor of the legendary geneticist.
Clipboards in hand, judges (right and above) examined the 400 entries set up on tables inside the student pavilion at Temple University. Each tri-fold display represents the work of a seventh through 12th grader. (The science fair for elementary students was held last month.)
There's a wide range of experiments: from mold growth to hand sanitizers versus soap, to how protein digestion varies with pH levels.
"We have biochemistry, we have physics, we have mathematics, we have computers, we have team projects, we have consumer projects, we have zoology," says fair chairman Tom Anderson.
The winners go on to compete in the regional Delaware Valley Science Fair, and some will be eligible for partial scholarships at Temple.
