Judge Refuses To Toss Charges Against Sandusky

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (CBS) —
The judge presiding over the Jerry Sandusky case has issued his rulings on pre-trial motions discussed in court last week.
Sandusky's lawyer had asked that charges against his client be dismissed because they were too vague or lacking in evidence. During a hearing last Thursday, there were strong indications that the judge would dismiss those motions "without prejudice" and now the judge, in an official ruling, has done just that meaning that Sandusky will have the opportunity to be heard on those issues at a future date.
The judge, however, did reject the defense argument that the statute of limitations has expired. The judge also rejected a defense motion to suppress evidence and has deferred judgment on a move to sequester the jury that will be chosen. Also rejected was a defense request to further delay the trial that is currently set to begin on June 5th.
Earlier this week the judge issued a gag order severely limiting what lawyers and others involved in the case can say to the media.
