Judge May Rule On Scheduled Execution Of Philadelphia Man Who Claims His Victims Sexually Abused Him
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A judge may rule Friday on a motion to stay the scheduled Oct. 3 execution of a Philadelphia man who now claims his victims had sexually abused him.
Terrance Williams is on death row for killing Amos Norwood at age 18, months after killing another man.
A co-defendant has filed an affidavit this week saying he told police in 1984 that the 56-year-old Norwood was sexually involved with Williams.
Co-defendant Marc Draper says they told him not to mention it at trial, but to only discuss the robbery motive.
Draper is serving life for his role in the slaying.
Williams says Norwood had been abusing him since he was 13.
Norwood's widow, several jurors and death-penalty foes are pushing for a life term.
Pennsylvania has not executed anyone since 1999.
