Judge Keeps Bail At $1M For Philly Cops Charged With Dealing Drugs
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two former Philadelphia police officers arrested last week and charged with corruption will remain behind bars pending a hearing on November 10th.
At a brief status hearing in the case Tuesday, a judge denied a defense request to lower bail, which had previously set at $1 million for each defendant.
Philadelphia patrol cops Christopher Luciano (left) and Sean Alivera (right) allegedly conspired to rob a drug dealer of drugs and money, then resell the drugs.
But the target was an undercover officer, and they were arrested (see previous story).
Defense attorney Fortunato Perri Jr. represents Luciano:
"We are continuing to review the allegations set forth against Mr. Luciano. I can tell you this conduct is certainly beyond what his character has been throughout his career as a Philadelphia police officer."
Alivera's attorney also cited his client's good police record, and both attorneys declined to discuss the specifics of the case.
