Jozy Altidore To Miss Thursday's Match Vs. Germany
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jozy Altidore will miss the United States' World Cup match against Germany on Thursday, as he continues to recover from a strained left hamstring he suffered in USA's win over Ghana.
United States' head coach Jurgen Klinsmann made the announcement on Tuesday, but also said there is a good chance Altidore returns for the knockout stage--if the U.S. qualifies, of course.
"Jozy is recovering really well," Klinsmann said on Tuesday. "He's doing a tremendous job. Our medical staff is on top of it. This game [against Germany] comes still too early for him, but we're working on him. We're getting him back in this tournament, as we said. So once this game is done -- hopefully successfully -- we'll have a good chance to have him back then in the team."
