Journalists In Town For Papal Visit Treated To Breakfast At Reading Terminal Market
By Mike DeNardo
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Thousands of journalists from across the nation and around the world are descending on Philadelphia for the Pope's visit. A few dozen were treated to some local hospitality this morning with a free breakfast at Reading Terminal Market.
Visiting journalists are getting the same sweet-and-sour impressions of the city that locals already have. Dario Mobini, a freelance journalist from Seattle, saw brotherly love at the airport as he arrived.
"I thought to myself, "Wow, we just arrived and this random stranger came up to me and said 'I want to help you.'"
Nathalie Dumas, a magazine editor from Montreal, says Philadelphia appears clean and ready to welcome the Pope. But, "I saw some homeless people in a park. And I was thinking, I wonder if those people will be there."
Nathalie enjoyed her Reading Terminal breakfast. So did Dario, with one exception.
"I didn't try the scrapple. I don't know -- I'm not a big fan of the surprise meat!"
