Philadelphia Firefighter Named Firefighter Of The Year For Rescuing Man From Burning House While Off-Duty
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Joseph Rippert was named Firefighter of the Year during a special ceremony on Wednesday morning. He was recognized for rescuing a man from a burning house in Roxborough while he was off-duty.
After making the rescue, Rippert stayed at the scene to assist arriving companies by carrying the hose line.
He joined the Philadelphia Fire Department less than two years ago.
