'Jihad Jamie' Pleads Guilty In Terror Plot That Reached Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A 32-year-old former Colorado woman today pleaded guilty to involvement in a terrorist plot.
Standing before Judge Petrese Tucker in federal court in Philadelphia, Jamie Paulin-Ramirez, clad in a dark green prison uniform and black head scarf, admitted being part of the plot that included Philadelphia suburbanite Colleen LaRose, also called "Jihad Jane" (see related story).
In a soft voice, and mostly in monosyllables, Ramirez agreed with the government's allegations -- based on intercepted e-mails and other information -- that she had gone to Ireland with her young son to join jihad in September 2009 and immediately married a Muslim man she'd never met as cover for the plot.
That plot was to include military-style training aimed at killing people seen as opponents of Islam (see previous story).
No sentencing date was set, but she could get a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
