JetBlue Offering Free Flights 'If The Other Guy Wins' The 2012 Election

By Chelsea Karnash

NEW YORK, NY (CBS) – You hear it all the time before a presidential election: "If ___ wins, I'm leaving the country."

Now, JetBlue is offering travelers the chance to actually act on those threats with a promotional offer centered on this year's big political race.

The airline is giving away 2012 free seats (which works out to 1,006 round trip flights) to any of its 21 international destinations to customers who enter a contest online and then come out on the losing side of the 2012 election.

In a release posted on the New York-based airline's website, JetBlue says it "flies above the political chatter by making good on an Election Protection promise: the chance for customers to freely leave the country (and return home!) if they need a break because their candidate doesn't win."

The contest starts today and runs until Election Day. Customers can visit www.jetblue.com/electionprotection and enter their pick for president to be automatically entered, and JetBlue will be keeping track of preferred destinations and social media buzz surrounding the election.

Of course, there is one caveat: To win the JetBlue contest, your candidate has to lose the race for the White House—in which case you might want to forfeit your seat on that return flight.
