Jerry Sandusky Moved From County Jail To State Prison

BELLEFONTE, Pa. (CBS) -- Convicted child molester Jerry Sandusky has been moved from the Centre County, Pa. jail to a state prison, but it will be several weeks before it is known where he will serve the balance of his 30-60 year prison sentence (see related story).
Sandusky was transferred to the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill, in the western suburbs of Harrisburg. That facility is where all male inmates are taken to be processed upon entering the state prison system.
Corrections department spokeswoman Sue Bensinger says Sandusky will undergo several weeks of evaluation to determine what treatment or other programs he may need before it is decided which state prison he'll be sent to permanently -- a decision that will be based on which facilities best meet his needs and which of those facilities are available.
"And that is not as easy as it sounds," Bensinger tells KYW Newsradio. "We don't house like-sentenced inmates in any one facility. It depends on what programs are being offered at that institution, and if there's bed space."
Bensinger says Sandusky will likely spend two to four weeks at Camp Hill.
