Jeremy Maclin Says Tough Workouts In Hot Weather Are A Good Thing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Eagles are in the midst of what many believe is the toughest portion of training camp.
Friday was the third of six straight days of workouts, and the heat and humidity continues to rise at Lehigh. Head Coach Andy Reid has been impressed with how his players have handled the difficult conditions. "The players have been very positive with it," said Reid. "They're pushing themselves through, which is important. In this day and age, these six days here are kind of the dog days."
The conditions have been even tougher this season with the hitting portion of practices in the afternoons. Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin believes the grind of this year's camp will pay off for the Eagles during the season. "It's been hot," Maclin said. "It's a grind, but that's what training camp's all about. You're out there grinding and going to war. I think it's definitely going to help us out."
Cornerback Nate Allen was one of several Eagles who missed part of Thursday's workout due to a minor injury. Allen suffered a hamstring spasm and says he's learned how to manage his body while dealing with the heat and humidity. "It's tough," said Allen. "You learn that you've got to take care of your body. You've got to stay a little extra and get in the cold tub and take care of your body because it just takes one little thing."
