Jeremiah Trotter, Merrill Reese To Be Inducted Into Eagles Hall Of Fame

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A pair of fan favorites, one who performed on the field and one who performs in the booth, are heading into the Eagles Hall of Fame this upcoming season.

The team announced, on Tuesday, that the next two inductees into the prestigious group will be former linebacker Jeremiah Trotter and team play-by-play announcer Merrill Reese. They will be inducted into the team's Hall of Fame on November 28 when the Eagles take on the Packers.

A special halftime ceremony will be held to honor the pair.

Jeremiah 'The Axe Man" Trotter played 11 seasons in the NFL and eight of them were played here in Philadelphia in three separate stints (98-01, 04-06, 09). Only four Eagles linebackers made four or more Pro Bowl teams, putting Trotter in the company of Chuck Bednarik, Maxie Baughan and Bill Bergey.

"Jeremiah Trotter embodies everything we strive for as an organization," said Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. "He was an emotional and inspirational player who captured the hearts of our fans. As an anchor of our defense, he led with an immeasurable amount of toughness and a fiery attitude."

Reese delights fans on a weekly-basis as the voice of the Eagles, heard on SportsRadio 94WIP narrating some of the most iconic and exciting moments in Eagles football. He is the longest tenured play-by-play announcer in the NFL, now entering his 40th season with the Birds.

The Temple product, by way of Overbrook High School, started with the team in the radio booth in 1977. "When you think about some of the greatest moments in Eagles history, you can hear Merrill's voice, living and dying with every play, just like we all do," said Lurie in a statement. "What makes him so special, and so ingrained in the fabric of our franchise, is how dedicated he is to the team, the fans and his job. Merrill is a legend, and he is the absolute best at what he does."
