Jenkintown School Officials Collecting Funds For Family Burned Out Of Home By Fatal Crash
UPPER MORELAND, Pa. (CBS) - The community in eastern Montgomery County, Pa. is coming together to help a family of five burned out of their Upper Moreland house early Tuesday morning by a horrific crash.
James Cummins, his wife, and their three young boys were sound asleep when the car hit their Byberry Road home shortly before two in the morning. They all escaped unharmed, but two people in the car were killed and the house is a total loss (see related story).
Family friend Keith Purcaro, who is the principal of Jenkintown Elementary School, says a fund has been set up to help the family get back on their feet.
"Right now they don't even have a place to go yet," says Purcaro, "so what we're asking from people are monetary donations. "We ask that people make sure that their information is some way included, because I do know that the Cummins family will want to thank people."
James Cummins is the director of technology for the Jenkintown School District.
The two people killed in the car have been identified as 26-year-old Laura Stevens and 27-year-old Wayne Foulke. Police were still investigating to determine what caused their car to leave the road and hit the house.
Checks made out to the Cummins family or gift cards can be sent to Jenkintown Elementary School, 325 Highland Avenue, Jenkintown, Pa. 19046
