Jefferson Medical Students Hit The Right Notes With Singing Group

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Relieving stress is important for every busy college student, but one group finds time out from their medical studies to entertain.

The a capella group "The Arrhythmias" is made up of a dozen students in such demanding fields as medicine, pharmacy, and doctoral studies at Jefferson Medical College.

Chelain Goodman, the group's leader (photo), is in the fifth year of an intensive eight-year program, earning both medical and doctorate degrees.

"We don't have a ton of time, but we all like to take time out of our schedules to come together," she told KYW Newsradio today.  "It's a nice social environment, it's a nice break -- especially for first- and second-year medical students.  So, it's a nice break from medicine and science."

Goodman has been singing most of her life and enjoys the weekly 1½-hour practice sessions.  They pick and arrange their own music, and sing for anyone willing to ask.
