Jayson Werth Wants To Prevent Any More Parades Down Broad Street

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – It seems fitting that the man who was responsible for the first flicker of a rivalry between the Phillies and the Nationals, is the one who fans the flames.
Jayson Werth signed a free agent contract with the Washington Nationals worth $126 million after his final year with the Phillies. Things were looking up a bit for him this season after hitting just .232 with 48 RBI's in 2011, until Sunday night when Werth broke his wrist, an injury that could keep him from playing for three months.
Werth said the following in an email to the Washington Post:
"After walking off the field feeling nauseous knowing my wrist was broke and hearing Philly fans yelling 'You deserve it,' and, 'That's what you get,' I am motivated to get back quickly and see to it personally those people never walk down Broad Street in celebration again."
This, combined with the Take Back The Park story, Brad Lidge's proclamation, and the Cole Hamels / Bryce Harper incident, has provided for more talk about the two teams rivalry in just a few months than anything over the last three years combined.
