Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Valentine's Vacation
By Jay Lloyd
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With Valentine's Day on the near horizon, a pair of cozy couple's getaways should be considered.
If your idea of a romantic getaway is sitting around a warming fireplace for a little kinoodling or challenging mountain slopes by day and savoring candlelit dinners by night, here are a couple of nearby spots that make my easy-to-do list. It's two hours to Milford, Pennsylvania and the 19th century Hotel Fauchere run by Sean Strub.
"Milford is a quintessential little American village," says Strub.
But with skiing nearby at Shawnee Mountain and romantic dinners by night in the hotel dining rooms that trace their history to New York's Delmonico's.
Closer to home, I like winter in New Hope. Meander along unique streets and the river by day, stay at the quaint Logan Inn and dine with candlelight in the 18th century inn's tavern or lounge.
Both getaways have survived the test of time and a long line of lovers that span the ages.
