Jay Lloyd's Getaway: Summer Slopes
By Jay Lloyd
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The sounds of chair lifts and skis are summer echoes that have given way to a treasure of summertime action on the slopes.
The ribbons of snow have melted but the Pennsylvania slopes are alive with the sounds of high adventure and water park antics.
"We're seeing mountain biking, adventure camps and ziplining,"said Linda Irvin of the Pennsylvania Ski Area Association.
Over the years, Irvin has seen winter sport backdrops embrace four-season activity. And speaking of ziplining, it's flying high as close as Spring Mountain in Montgomery County, where new riders find a lot to crow about.
"It felt great," said a zipliner. "It was beautiful."
Check out your own favorite ski area online. You'll find mountain biking at Blue Mountain, a major water park and adventure camp at Camelback, paddleboards and biking at Bear Creek, golf at Liberty Mountain and a parade of festivals at Shawnee.
Plenty to do on the slopes until the snow flies and skis beckon.
