This week, a reunion with old friends and a craving for lobster takes KYW's Jay Lloyd on a getaway to Nova Scotia -- "New Scotland" -- in eastern Canada.

PICTOU, Nova Scotia (CBS) -- A couple of 18th-century Philadelphians enticed about 200 Scots to voyage to the Canadian Maritime region and settle in a stretch of wilderness there.
They landed on the Northumberland shore of what later became Nova Scotia and the picture-postcard village of Pictou.

The region is a magnet for seafood lovers and, would you believe, beachgoers.
"We have the warmest waters here north of the Carolinas," says Anne Emmett, our hostess at the charming Braeside Inn. "Our beaches here are beautifully warm."
Emmett fell in love with the sparsely populated and pristine region, little changed since the days of the Scottish migration.
Even the music is a reminder of the Lochs and Highlands, and an hour to the east finds a single malt distillery.
Meanwhile, we've been on overload with succulent lobster, scallops, haddock, and those world-famous Prince Edward Island mussels.
