Jay Lloyd's Getaway: A Canadian Treat Arrives at Citizens Bank Park

TORONTO, Ont. (CBS) -- The Phillies are getting ready for their home opener on Monday, and fans this year are being treated to an imported ball park nosh.
It's called poutine, and it's being served for the first time this year at Harry the K's, at Citizens Bank Park.
But I first discovered poutine last spring, during a Canadian getaway to Blue Jays stadium in Toronto.
Every taste bud tingles when bathed with poutine. This calorie-enhanced nibble began life in Montreal, but quickly migrated throughout Canada.
Now, Aramark -- which coincidently also serves Blue Jays fans -- has brought the flavor favor to Philadelphia.
You may recall, during my chat last spring with Toronto ball park chef Kevin Birch, he explained the magic of poutine:
"It's basically Cavendish potatoes which are golden fried. We put a little Canadian cheese curds on it, a nice chicken-and-beef gravy, we melt it on top, and away you go."
If you try poutine here and then get an insatiable craving for the dish in its native land, just make plans to follow the Phillies to Toronto for a two-game set on May 7th and 8th. There's a hotel with field-view windows and balconies right in the ballpark.
