'Jane The Virgin' Boss Discusses The Surprising Twists In The Season 4 Finale

Philadelphia (CW Philly) — Last week, Jane The Virgin showrunner, Jennie Snyder Urman, told viewers that the season 4 finale would be filled with "some shocking twists," and she followed through on her promise.

Warning: spoilers to follow.

Entertainment Weekly talked with Urman about the huge finale twists, including the unexpected return of long-lost character, Michael Cordero.

That's right, Michael is back! Check out some fan reactions below!

First, EW had to ask the obvious: Is the man viewers saw definitely Michael? Could he be a twin or an impostor?

"It's not a twin. I can't say whether it's definitely Michael, that will be answered in the first episode of the fifth season," Urman said.

EW was also curious if Michael's return had been the plan all along.

"No, I always left it open as a maybe in that I knew that he was going to be dead for the purposes of the show and for Jane, for the family, for what we wanted to explore in terms of grieving," she explained.

Now that Michael's back, Jane has a lot to process. Will she end up with Michael after all or continue to see where things go with Rafael?

"The show began with Jane and Michael, and Rafael just appeared in their life and became so central, and now Jane and Rafael are in this really great place and here's this person who could be her dead husband," Urman said. "We love a big twist on Jane, but we also love to deal with the grounded emotional fallout of it and I think his presence will allow us a lot of conflict and emotion and heart-wrenching storytelling which I want to dive into," she continued.

Lastly, Urman dished on Alba and Jorge's big, surprise wedding.

"Magical things have happened in this family, and I think she [Alba] has a husband now and it's somebody that she loves, so I think she is certainly going to be hoping that it becomes more real than anticipated," she said.
