James Carville Joins Chris Stigall, Discusses Christie Scandal
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- James Carville joined Chris Stigall on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT Monday to discuss everything from the recent bridge scandal surrounding New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and the allegations his staff ordered lane closures on the George Washington Bridge as part of a political payback to the Mayor of Fort Lee for not endorsing him, to the 2016 presidential campaign.
Carville believes so much attention is being paid to the bridge scandal issue because it was easy for people to grasp and understand. Stigall suggested that the media should pay as much attention to the scandal regarding Benghazi as they are to Christie, but Carville countered that hearings have already been held on Benghazi and holding more would not be useful.

When comparing President Obama's management style with that of the New Jersey Governor, Carville agreed with Stigall that the President probably should fire more federal officials when they underperform at their jobs. The rollout of healthcare.gov was cited as a primary example.
Lastly, they looked ahead to the 2016 Presidential campaign where Stigall asked Carville to assess Christie's chances at winning the Republican nomination. Carville suggested that Christie's persona, while popular in the Northeastern portion of the Country, will not play well in other regions, and therefore doubts he will be the eventual choice of the Republicans when convention time comes around two and a half years from now. Carville also named some alternatives to Hillary Clinton, who is seen as the presumptive favorite for the Democratic nomination. His list included the Governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, and two Senators, Mark Warner of Virginia and Elizabeth Warren of Massachussetts.
Carville has an appearance Monday night with his wife, Mary Matalin, at the Free Library of Philadelphia to discuss their new book: Love & War: Twenty Years, Three Presidents, Two Daughters and One Louisiana Home.
