Jackson: Eagles Fans Deserve Home Win
By Ed Benkin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The number 10 is considered by some to represent perfection. For the Eagles, 10 represents a frustrating streak.
The Eagles have lost 10 straight home games and will try to snap the streak on Sunday when they host the Washington Redskins. Wide Receiver DeSean Jackson says the players received a message from their coach after their victory in Green Bay about taking care of business at home.
"Chip Kelly challenged us after the game," said Jackson. "He challenged us to have a great week of practice so we could do what we need to do and get a win in front of our home crowd. They deserve it."
While Jackson says the Eagles' performance is the reason why they have struggled at home, he is hoping to hear less booing from the fans if the team gets off to a slow start on Sunday.
"You can never blame that for the reason why you're losing," Jackson said. "I understand where the frustration comes from and why are fans why the way they are, but the younger guys don't really understand the ins and outs of why we're getting booed."
If the Eagles are to finally pick up that elusive home victory, they will need another strong quarterback performance from Nick Foles. The second-year signal caller is coming off two impressive performances and says he continues to improve each game.
"I think I've just grown as a player and person," said Foles. "Just playing in this league and playing in games, then going through an off-season and get reps. I'm definitely growing and I feel more and more comfortable."
The Eagles won't have starting safety Earl Wolff on Sunday. The rookie is sidelined with a knee injury, but veteran Patrick Chung is ready to return to the lineup after dealing with a shoulder injury throughout much of the season.
"You can't feel rust," Chung said. "You've got to shake that off when you go from the sideline to the field. You just go out there and play."
Cornerback Bradley Fletcher is battling a pectoral injury. Fletcher missed last Sunday's game in Green Bay but could return this weekend.
