J-Roll Shows Off Business Side In Talk At Temple's Biz School
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Phillies fans are well aware of Jimmy Rollins' exploits on the field, but most probably don't know that he's been quietly paving the way for a post-baseball career as a music mogul.
The all-star shortstop gave a tutorial today to students at Temple University's Fox School of Business.
A hearty round of applause greeted Jimmy Rollins (far right) as he was presented with a pair of platinum records for Justin Bieber's hit CD, "My World 2.0," and his million-selling single, "Eenie Meenie."
Back in September, Rollins purchased a portion of the publishing rights to "Eenie Meenie," which means he'll get a nice chunk of change for as long as he owns it.
Rollins says he wants to build a vast catalogue.
"I think it's great just to have piece of American history," he told Temple students today. "Music is American history. It's not gonna go in the books, but it's gonna be in our hearts, our memories. It's gonna capture that moment. So if I can own a piece of that, that would be great," he said.
J-Roll also says he has plans to get into the music development side of the biz, but that's not likely to happen until his playing days are over.
