iZombie Recap: Episode 3, 'The Exterminator'
By Courtney E. Smith
This week on iZombie, a very Law & Order feeling plagues us, Liv learns to suppress her feelings by eating brains and we learn that going hungry for a zombie is the point of no return.
The opening this week is an ode to every scary movie ever, in which two idiot virgins stumble on something scary. The modern twist? They post a photo on Facebook of what they're calling the Seattle Zombie. We later find out the Zombie is named Marcy and she worked with Liv…and went to that unfortunate boat party with her. She's been down there for six months without any brains, and let's just say Marcy is looking very extreme zombie.

Back in the morgue, Liv's brain of the episode is some guy who sounds super generic and dull but turns out to be a hit man for hire with antisocial disorder. His brains so dull Liv's feelings that she does all kinds of weird things like gain encyclopedic knowledge of trivia, nearly let Marcy the Zombie kill Dr. Ravi and thoughtlessly tank the career of her ADA Roommate.
And speaking of ADA Roommate, she's all stoked that her career is getting a fast track after she's put on a high-profile case to find the killer of a big-time tech dude in Seattle. They're blaming the killing on a "homeless drifter" (does anyone still say "drifter" outside of crime noir?), but Liv gives some sharp pushes to Detective Clive w/r/t her brain insights, and the pair quickly prove it was no drifter but a killer for hire. The same killer for hire whose brains she ate. It's magical.
Robert Buckley as Major Lilywhite and Rose McIver as Olivia "Liv" Moore (Diyah Pera/The CW)
Boyfriend and Blaine both only get minimal roles to play for this episode, which is expected for the former and disappointing for the latter. Boyfriend has found a new girlfriend, as revealed in a Facebook video, and Blaine has been cut off from his brains supply from Liv's morgue before it even started, as revealed in a tense face-off between the two. In the end, Blaine gets to feeding on some of the shelter kids that Boyfriend works with so that's a nice bow tying together the two men in Liv's life.
