Investigation Underway After Man Dies Shortly After Arrest In Camden County
PAULSBORO, NJ (CBS) – Police are investigating the death of a Paulsboro man shortly after he was arrested on Saturday morning.
Shron Norman, 37, was arrested after police received reports of a disorderly person inside the Crown Fried Chicken on Mount Ephraim Avenue in Haddon Township around 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Staff at the restaurant called 9-1-1 after Norman allegedly threatened customers and damaged property inside the store.
After Norman was arrested, he passed out in the rear of a Haddon Township police car and died, despite the efforts of officers to perform CPR on him.
Norman was pronounced dead at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden.
Police say they struggled with Norman while placing him under arrest, and once officer sustained superficial injuries. An autopsy performed on Sunday revealed no evidence of trauma to Norman's body. The medical examiner is awaiting the results of toxicology tests before determining a cause of death.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
