Inquirer And Daily News To Move From Iconic Building To Another

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Philadelphia Media Network, the publisher of the Inquirer, Daily News and Philly.com, is moving from one iconic Philadelphia building to another.

The Inquirer and Daily News are moving from their venerable longtime home at 400 North Broad to the former Strawbridge's building at 8th and Market.

Under the 12-year lease, 600 employees will be moving into the third floor of the building at 801 Market, says Philadelphia Media Network CEO Greg Osberg.

"We are going to be operating on one entire floor here in the old Strawbridge's building and we will be operating with one newsroom, which is a significant change of how we've been operating the company," Osberg said.

Osberg says the company plans a digital Times Square-style sign with content and ads, several stories high at 9th and Market. The move is expected to be completed in June 2012. The current Inquirer building was sold to developer Bart Blatstein two months ago.
