Infant, 2 Adults Seriously Injured In New Jersey Crash
HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) — An infant and two adults — including the child's mother — were seriously injured when the sport utility vehicle they were riding in crashed into a wooded area in southern New Jersey.
The child's father, who was driving, sustained minor injuries.
Hamilton Township police say 19-year-old Lyssa Piwowski was holding her 8-month-old son when the crash occurred around 5 a.m. Sunday. She was trapped inside by the wreckage, while her son and his grandmother, 53-year-old Joyce Calderwood, were ejected from the SUV.
All three were later airlifted to a hospital, but further details on their conditions were not disclosed. The driver, 25-year-old Jonathan Calderwood, was treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Authorities say no one in the SUV was wearing seat belts.
