Independence Blue Cross Puts Out Challenge To Entrepreneurs
By John Ostapkovich
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Independence Blue Cross is joining several other organizations to reward those who can help improve health care.
It's the debut of the Game Changers Challenge, says Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Dan Hilferty.
"We're trying to accomplish three things: 1) to improve quality of health care, 2) to improve the access to health care in underserved communities and 3) to drive down costs."
Hilferty says it's kind of a casting call for entrepreneurs.
"We look for things that could really impact changes in health care and it's really focused on software application, devices, education programs, public awareness campaigns, programs like that that will really get to the heart of the way health care is provided in the community."
Applications are being taken now through July 10th and then evaluated for feasibility, scalability, sustainability, and impact but if you're one of the winners, there's $50,000 in it, plus several levels of support from Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs and other providers to try to make the proposal ready for prime time.
