Independence Blue Cross Announces It Will Lead Toys For Tots Campaign

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Independence Blue Cross has announced it will lead the Toys for Tots campaign this holiday season. The corporation has set up a matching toy campaign which runs through December 21st.
Toys for Tots announced on Wednesday that it was 80 percent behind the number of toy donations it had received last year and the toy drive was in trouble. After hearing that, Independence Blue Cross President and CEO Dan HIlferty decided to do something about it.
"We're going to contribute a thousand toys to begin with, and then we're setting up a tent in our courtyard next to the building and encourage people to bring toys. When you go out shopping, pick up one extra toy, drop it at the tent next to IBC in the bin and we will match up to 2,500 any toy that comes in," said Hilferty.
Hilferty says the Marines have always been the force behind Toys for Tots. He adds the Marines have never let us down and now it's our turn to step up for them.
