Commuters Worried About Increasing Gas Prices During Holiday Season
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - How high will it go? Gasoline prices are on the minds of many as motorists hit the roads this holiday weekend.
The national average for gasoline is $3.85 per gallon. Last year around this time it was 99 cents cheaper.
In the Philadelphia five-county area, it's now $3.91 per gallon on average. $1.03 more than last year.
In South Jersey, the current national average is $3.71 cents, 20 cents cheaper than the Philadelphia area's average per gallon. Last year, South Jersey averaged $2.68 per gallon, $1.03 less than it is now.
Many commuters are wondering what prices at the pump will be for the next heavily traveled holiday, Memorial Day weekend.
