In Light Of Flash Mob Attacks, Police Add More Patrols Across Center City
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Friday night attack by a group of boys from 11-to-19 did not deter other people from walking the streets of Center City Saturday night.
One of the two attacks happened near 15th and Sansom Streets. Yana Brown works in the city and was sitting at an outdoor cafe with a friend. She said she had not heard about the latest attack, but she works in the court house and has seen the aftermath of other assaults.
"I'm very aware of if but, no, it's not going to stop me. I just have to hope that they come to their senses, and I know Philadelphia is doing what they can for it, so I'm hoping that it'll stop soon," says Brown.
Her friend just moved here. And she said as they were sitting at the cafe, there was a very clear police presence.
"There was a cop car, parked right here on 16th Street and then there was one who came by on a bike, they're patrolling, they're doing what they can do. I feel safe in the city."
Some locals said they never go out alone, always with at least one friend or more.
