In Fairmout Park, New Year 'Countdown To Noon' For The Young At Heart

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- For those who can't stay up until midnight, there was an early edition of the ball drop today at noon at Philadelphia's "Please Touch" Museum.
The Countdown to Noon was accompanied by cheers as hundreds of parents and children crowded under the dome to watch the Please Touch version of the ball drop.
A confetti cannon fired ten pounds of shredded tissue paper into the air at the stroke of noon.
"I loved it!" said one little girl afterward. "I loved everything!"
"I like it best when we counted down and watched the ball," said another youngster.
"All the confetti," said a third.
(Reporter:) "Is New Year's a big holiday for you?"
(Child, seven years old:) "Yes, because we get to stay up all night and it's a new year, 2014."
(Reporter:) "What are you hoping for in 2014?"
(Child:) "Less commercials."
(Another child:) "I'm hoping for more snow in the winter."
(Yet another child:) "Getting a puppy."
(Reporter:) "You're getting a puppy?"
(Child:) "I just want to get one."
Mom was unfazed.
"No. Maybe. We'll see," she said.
