'I (Heart) Boobies!' Bracelet Case Heads To Philadelphia Federal Appeals Court
PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) -- The case of an eastern Pennsylvania school that attempted to ban breast-cancer fundraising bracelets that read "I (heart) boobies!" in 2010 will head to a full federal appeals court.
Back in 2010, two middle-school students who were suspended for wearing the rubber bracelets filed a free-speech lawsuit against the Easton Area School District. District officials called the word "boobies" vulgar.
Last year, a federal judge ruled in favor of the students, but the district appealed the decision.
Now, a 14-judge full appeals court in Philadelphia has agreed to hear the case. No date has been set.
