Hurricane Relief Concert Raises Money But Not Entertaining To Everyone
By Melony Roy
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The 12-12-12 Concert Wednesday night was supposed to be all about Sandy relief efforts, but it offered up plenty of other trending topics.
The 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief had the social sphere abuzz with a variety of trending topics but not everyone thought the concert represented all those affected by the Superstorm.
"There were no woman or people of color performing until Alicia Keys three hours into the concert. We did see Amare Saudimire in a phone bank and we did see Whoopi Goldberg being interviewed but performer after performer were all white men," said Professor of digital media at New York's Columbia Journalism School and CNET social and digital media writer Sree Sreenivasan.
Chris Martin, Alicia Keys, and Kanye West were the youngest acts on the bill filled with stars aging as far back as the Sixties.
"This didn't appeal to my children who were sitting there watching, I mean it was good to educate them but it became a classic rock station which it shouldn't have been."
