Hundreds Turn Out For 1st Night Of Holiday Lights Festival In Upper Providence

Philadelphia (CBS) – The Delaware County Council kicked off its 35th Annual Festival of Lights for Peace in Rose Tree Park on Saturday.
Hundreds of families flocked to see the red, blue and green sparkling trees and decorated displays.
Gregg: What do you think of the lights?
"Pretty awesome!" said on festival goer.
Hot cocoa and a visit from Santa sweetened the opening night's festivities.
Gregg: Did you get to see Santa?
Nina: No, not yet. But we're looking forward to it.
And there were lots of favorites.
"I like the gingerbread houses," said Marianne Brown, who attended the festival for the first time with her husband Paul and nine-year-old son Robbie. "The ones where the kids are poking their heads outside of them, it's really cute."
"The pink and blue ones," said seven-year-old Nina.
"There are close to 60,000 lights light right now, approximately 50 trees," said Park Superintendent Norm Bennett. "It took a little over a month to set up. There is a courthouse scene, a nativity scene and a Charlie Brown scene."
A park spokeswoman estimates that up to a thousand people visit the display each night. The Festival of Lights for Peace illuminates each night from 5:30 to 9:30 through January, 2nd.
