Hundreds Rallied, Calling For Penn State Officials To Resign
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) — Hundreds of Penn State alumni and fans have attended a rally calling for the university's president and board of trustees to step down over their actions amid the child sex abuse scandal that engulfed the campus a year ago.
Speakers at Saturday's rally, including former Pittsburgh Steeler Franco Harris and trustee Anthony Lubrano, criticized the actions of officials following a critical internal investigation and tough NCAA sanctions.
A cardboard cutout of Joe Paterno stood next to the speakers, and many people wore shirts or carried signs commemorating the longtime coach, who was fired in November and died in January.
Lubrano called for legislative restructuring of the board and criticized Gov. Tom Corbett, a board member.
An email to a school spokesman seeking comment was not immediately returned.
