Hundreds Gather To Remember The Horrors Of The Holocaust
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Hundreds of people gathered on the Ben Franklin Parkway Sunday to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day.
Eleven-million people, 6-million of them Jews, were killed by the Nazis during World War II.
Organizers say it is very important to remember:
"It's important to learn the lessons of prejudice and bullying and all of those issues that we have today and people need to be aware what it can lead to," Sarita Gocial, memorial ceremony chair, said.
Officially, Holocaust Remembrance Day began at sun down Sunday and lasts until Monday evening.
