Homicide Captain: Suspects Were Arrested Because Community Came Forward

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- In the past few weeks, Philadelphia Police have been able to identify and arrest suspects in two homicide cases involving young children.
Investigators give credit to community members who weren't afraid to talk, and they're hoping that cooperation continues.
Children, 15, 9 and 7-years-old, their lives taken away by an out of control vehicle in a North Philadelphia carjacking. A 3-year-old girl, sitting on a porch getting her hair braided, killed by a stray bullet in Grays Ferry. And in both cases, Homicide Captain James Clark says citizens came forward with critical information.
"It's been really great and very refreshing within these last two jobs, the community has come out," he said.
Clark says people got off the sidelines and acted because innocent kids were the victims. And he hopes more people do the same. Saying no to the no-snitch culture and getting the bad guys behind bars.
"The message I would like to give is - if the public comes out and gives us these names, then we can do our job and take these murderers off the street," Clark said.
