Homeless Vets, Others In Need Receive Thanksgiving Meals In Battleship New Jersey

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – There was a festive, Thanksgiving mood on the Battleship New Jersey Thursday.
Folks on the Battleship New Jersey hosted a special Thanksgiving Day meal.
"We're trying to feed homeless veterans right here on the Battleship New Jersey," says reverend Floyd White, director of Camden County veteran affairs.
Reporter: "Now I understand not all of the folks who came here are homeless."
"Some of the folks, they've had some problems in terms of economics and we wanted to open it up to other families too," White explains.
Victor Fernando Petrillo of Trenton came down for the event. He tells me he's thankful for this meal because he lives alone.
"I was homeless for 3 years but I'm not homeless at this moment," Petrillo says. He's not much of a chef, but he loves to eat, "stuffing, cranberries, turkey."
And he considers fellow veterans to be his second family.
"I enlisted in the national guard back in 1978 and then I transferred over to the navy," says Petrillo.
