Homegrown Acting Star Meets With Students at Philly's Creative Arts High School
By John McDevitt
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The musical "Sister Act" is in Philadelphia this week, and its star stopped by her high school alma mater to give professional advise to performing arts students.
Students of the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts ("CAPA") had the opportunity to ask questions and even get up on stage to sing and be critiqued by Ta'Rea Campbell, the lead of "Sister Act" who was once a student at CAPA.
"I'm so excited be able to come back and talk to them and they can pick my brain, and I can pick their brains, and it's just an awesome experience," Campbell told KYW Newsradio today.
"Wow, this is just amazing," said senior Nyani Totty, a drama major at CAPA, "I mean, that people come back to help us out." She perfected her craft. That just makes me believe I can perfect my craft as well."
Sister Act runs through April 7th at the Academy of Music.
